Hey Chris

I wasn’t talking about the Super Bowl because it’s not really “Super” if the Packers aren’t in it. But I was thinking a lot about the previous game, dang it. We all have our vices.

I still found enough time to consider the elections, though. It’s almost like my job.

If the voters don’t get to decide who is President, remember that the guys who wrote the Constitution would have wanted it that way. It sure doesn’t make it right, but it explains why it hasn’t necessarily improved much.

Worst case scenario, we’re just stuck in a semi-dictatorship where we occasionally get to register our discontent in glorified polls. If it goes to crap, they can’t blame you.

A-little-better-case scenario, we’re in a semi-democracy where we have a little say. Hurray, ain’t it great? Throw a big red, white and blue party with appropriate snacks and beverages.

Always remember (with a cynical eye), the powerful win in politics by having more votes and money.

The more powerful win by making sure that only issues that they would win ever come up to a vote, and the rest of the decisions are made elsewhere.

The most powerful win because the weak don’t even know their own best interests and do the bidding of the powerful—all the while thinking they are helping themselves.

Now go to work because what’s good for your employer is good for you, and buy something to make yourself happy because it will make you truly happy. Meanwhile, start making plans for the Fourth of July. Yay!

Wow, I just re-read this, and I must have felt like getting cranky today. The Packer loss must have bothered me even more than I thought.
